Pakistan, Turkiye express concern over Israeli actions in Gaza, Al-Aqsa Mosque violations

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar and his Turkish counterpart Hakan Fidan on Thursday expressed deep concern over Israeli military actions in Gaza and the Occupied West Bank, as well as repeated violations at the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound, during a telephone conversation.

“Both foreign ministers expressed deep concern over the continued Israeli military actions in Gaza and the Occupied West Bank, repeated violations at the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound in occupied East Jerusalem, and the worsening humanitarian situation,” the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) said in a statement.

The statement came amid violations of the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound by Israeli settlers and continued Israeli military operations in Gaza, alongside the expansion of settlements in the Occupied West Bank.

A day earlier, fourteen Arab and Palestinian institutions and organisations also issued an urgent appeal calling for collective action to protect occupied Jerusalem amid what they described as escalating Israeli violations targeting Al-Aqsa Mosque and the city's historic identity. The appeal warned of an unprecedented Israeli escalation targeting Al-Aqsa Mosque, Jerusalemites, and the city's Arab, Islamic and Christian identity, saying the measures seek to create new realities on the ground and consolidate control by force.

A statement by MoFO said that FM Dar, in talks with his Turkish counterpart, exchanged views on recent regional and international developments, with particular focus on the conflict in Palestine.

"They reaffirmed their unwavering support for the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people and discussed Jordan’s proposal to convene a meeting of Arab and Islamic countries to coordinate diplomatic efforts in support of the Palestinian people," it said.

A day earlier, FM Dar held similar discussions with Egyptian counterpart Badr Abdelatty, with the two expressing "grave concern" over the situation in the Palestinian territories. Both condemned continued Israeli military operations in Gaza and the occupied West Bank, stressed the need for an "immediate cessation of hostilities" and unhindered humanitarian assistance, and also discussed Jordan's proposal to convene a meeting of Arab and Islamic countries to coordinate diplomatic efforts in support of the Palestinian people.

Meanwhile, fresh Israeli attacks killed three Palestinians and injured 20 others in the latest ceasefire violations in the Gaza Strip today, medics said. In southern Gaza, a medical source at Nasser Hospital said two Palestinians were killed and 16 others, including children, were wounded in an Israeli drone strike targeting civilians in the Al-Majayda area of Al-Mawasi, west of Khan Younis.

The same source said a young man sustained moderate injuries after Israeli forces opened fire near the Rafah Garage area in central Khan Younis.

Israeli artillery shelling was also reported in the eastern outskirts of Al-Qarara, north of Khan Younis, with no casualties immediately reported. In northern Gaza, a medical source at Al-Shifa Hospital said one Palestinian was killed and three others injured, including two children, when an Israeli drone struck a group of civilians in the Al-Rimal neighbourhood of Gaza City.

Israeli forces also conduct near-daily military raids across the occupied West Bank, frequently carrying out arrests and attacks against Palestinians and their property. The escalation comes amid intensified Israeli military and occupier attacks across the occupied West Bank since the start of Israel's genocidal war on Gaza in October 2023.

According to official Palestinian figures, at least 1,182 Palestinians have been killed, around 13,000 injured and nearly 24,000 arrested in the occupied West Bank during that period.

Despite the ceasefire, Israeli attacks since Oct 10, 2025, have killed 1,209 Palestinians and injured 3,943 others, most of them women and children, according to Palestinian authorities.

The pace of Israeli raids and occupier violence has further intensified since Friday's incident in the town of Tell, near Nablus, where four Palestinians and two Israelis were killed during clashes involving Israeli occupiers, Palestinian residents and the Israeli army.

Israel has continued its military offensive on Gaza since Oct 8, 2023. According to Palestinian authorities, the war has killed more than 73,000 Palestinians and wounded over 174,000, while destroying around 90% of the enclave’s civilian infrastructure.
