Former poll contestant shot dead
A man was shot dead and a doctor injured after unidentified men opened fire in a homeopathic clinic in Gulberg on Wednesday.
The deceased reportedly was a political personality and had contested elections recently. The attack took place opposite the LDA Sports Complex in the Ghalib Market area.
Lahore DIG Operations Muhammad Faisal Kamran said during a visit to the crime scene that the deceased, Abdullah Tahir, was a resident of Okara. He had reportedly visited the clinic for a routine check-up and physiotherapy session.
Two assailants barged into the clinic and opened fire. The clinic's physician, Dr Riaz Khan, also suffered a gunshot wound in the attack and was shifted to the Services Hospital. Police said he was out of danger.
The police said investigators were analysing footage from surveillance cameras and using technical resources to identify the attackers, while forensic experts were collecting evidence from the crime scene.
