SHO, team booked for raid at wrong address
Police have registered a case against the station house officer (SHO) of Sarwar Road and 11 other officials after they allegedly conducted a wrongful raid on a residence.
The case was registered under Section 155-C of the Police Order, 2002, following a charge sheet issued by the Cantt SP who found that the officials had exceeded their lawful authority.
According to the FIR, the police team led by SHO Irfan had entered the residence by climbing over the main gate at around 6pm on Monday. The officials allegedly harassed household staff and damaged flowerpots during the raid.
Police officials said the team had received information about the presence of suspected criminals at a neighbouring house but mistakenly entered the residence of an influential figure The FIR added that the police had taken away the CCTV recording system from the house.
Reportedly, the DVR was returned after the footage had allegedly been deleted.
Following the incident, the SHO and 11 other police officials were charge-sheeted for exceeding their powers, while the probe has been handed over to the investigation wing.
Meanwhile, the SHO has obtained interim pre-arrest bail from a court.
