US congressional delegation meets Ishaq Dar, discusses expanding bilateral cooperation

US representatives praise Pakistani diaspora's contributions to economy, Islamabad's role in regional stability

A United States Congressional delegation (CODEL), comprising Representatives Ryan Zinke and Michael Baumgartner, called on Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar on Tuesday, as both sides reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening Pakistan-US ties.

Welcoming the delegation, Dar highlighted the positive momentum in bilateral relations and underscored the importance of enhancing cooperation across multiple sectors, including trade, investment, information technology and energy.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed avenues to further deepen engagement and explored opportunities for expanding collaboration in areas of mutual interest.

They also emphasised the significance of sustained parliamentary exchanges in fostering mutual trust and reinforcing the longstanding partnership between Pakistan and the US.

The visiting lawmakers acknowledged the valuable contributions of the Pakistani diaspora to the US economy and society, describing the community as a vital bridge between the two countries.

Both sides also exchanged views on regional and international developments.

The US congressmen appreciated Pakistan’s constructive role in promoting regional peace and stability, the Foreign Office said.
