The mystery surrounding Sadie Sink's role in Spider-Man: Brand New Day may have taken an unexpected turn after musician Steve Lacy appeared to reveal a major detail during the film's Los Angeles premiere.

While speaking to reporters on the red carpet on July 27, Lacy, whose song oh yeah? is featured in the upcoming Marvel film, was asked which character he was most excited to see on screen.

"You know what? Jean," Lacy replied. "I like Jean. She's the villain, but there's a reason to her madness."

The interviewer immediately appeared surprised and asked if Lacy had just shared a spoiler. Rather than clarify, the singer simply responded, "I like her. I like her character. I don't know why."

The brief exchange quickly went viral on social media, where many fans interpreted "Jean" as a reference to Jean Grey, the iconic X-Men mutant. Since Sink's character has remained one of the film's biggest secrets throughout the promotional campaign, viewers speculated that Lacy may have inadvertently confirmed she is playing the beloved Marvel character.

Others questioned whether Lacy was referring to a different character entirely or whether his comment had been taken out of context. Neither Marvel Studios nor Sony Pictures has commented on the speculation, and a representative for Lacy did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

Sink has consistently kept quiet about her role in the film despite months of fan theories. In previous interviews, she has avoided confirming or denying rumors linking her to Jean Grey or any other Marvel character.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day picks up after the events of Spider-Man: No Way Home, where the world forgot Peter Parker's identity. The sequel stars Tom Holland, Zendaya, Jacob Batalon, Jon Bernthal, and Sadie Sink, with the film set to arrive in theaters on July 31.

Until Marvel officially reveals Sink's character, Lacy's red carpet remark remains unconfirmed speculation, though it has only intensified anticipation ahead of the film's release.
