Quetta to install AI traffic signals

A high-level meeting chaired by Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti has decided to install modern artificial intelligence (AI)-based traffic signals in the provincial capital Quetta as a permanent solution to the city's growing traffic problems.

The meeting undertook a detailed review of the strategy for implementing a modern traffic management system across the city. Officials briefed the Chief Minister that AI-powered traffic signals would be activated to effectively control the increasing traffic pressure and manage the flow of vehicles more efficiently.

Chief Minister directed that modern technology be used to improve traffic flow so that citizens could be provided with safe, organised and better travel facilities. He instructed the relevant departments to ensure coordinated measures for the establishment of an effective, sustainable and modern traffic system.

The Chief Minister said that the convenience of citizens and a safe traffic system remained the top priority of the Balochistan government, while addressing traffic issues through modern technology formed an important part of the government's reform agenda.

He added that the implementation of an AI-based traffic management system would reduce travel time, promote discipline, transparency and effective monitoring on the roads, and ensure better travel facilities for the public.
