City cools a notch amid strong sea winds

Stronger-than-usual sea breezes swept through the metropolis on Monday, bringing a slight drop in temperature as the weather system responsible for recent rains dissipated, the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) said.

According to the Met Office, southwesterly winds blew across the city throughout the day, reaching a maximum speed of 42 kilometres per hour. The increased wind activity contributed to a 0.8°C decrease in the maximum temperature, which was recorded at 34.4°C.

Officials said the weather system that had earlier caused rainfall in the metropolis has now weakened and moved away.

The Early Warning Centre has forecast partly cloudy, hot and humid conditions in the city over the next three days, with temperatures expected to range between 34°C and 36°C. The Met Office added that gusty winds are likely to continue on Tuesday.
