Regal Chowk to berenamed as 'Khatm-e-Nabuwwat Chowk'

City Mayor Murtaza Wahab on Monday announced that the historic Regal Chowk would be renamed as "Khatm-e-Nabuwwat Chowk".

Chairing a high-level meeting, the mayor reviewed municipal arrangements for the holy month of Rabiul Awwal, terming it a period of immense spiritual significance for the Muslim Ummah.

He said the month holds special importance as it marks the birth of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), who guided humanity from darkness towards enlightenment through the message of the Holy Quran.

He stressed that ensuring civic facilities during Rabiul Awwal was not merely an administrative responsibility but a matter of privilege and devotion. "A comprehensive strategy has been devised to address civic issues before the 12th of Rabiul Awwal," he added.

Highlighting the importance of Seerat-un-Nabi (PBUH), Mayor Wahab said the life of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) serves as a complete code of conduct for humanity. He urged citizens to reflect their love for the Prophet (PBUH) through practical adherence to his teachings.

He said arrangements for Rabiul Awwal would be further strengthened through consultation with religious scholars to ensure better organisation and facilitation for citizens.

Among key announcements, the mayor directed that the Korangi No 5 flyover be opened by August 15, adding that tenders worth Rs2 billion had been issued to initiate development works across all districts.
