Teachers seek pending PSER payments

Teachers engaged in the Punjab Socio-Economic Registry (PSER) survey have appealed to Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif and Attock Deputy Commissioner to intervene over the non-payment of their outstanding salaries, claiming they have yet to receive remuneration for work carried out earlier this year.

The Punjab government launched the PSER survey in October 2025, deploying government school teachers alongside privately recruited personnel to conduct the exercise. Before fieldwork commenced, all participants underwent formal training, during which they were informed that they would receive full remuneration for 60 days' service.

According to the affected teachers, payments were made only up to December 2025, and even those payments were subject to deductions of approximately Rs3,000 under the head of taxation.

They alleged that salaries for January and February remain outstanding despite repeated requests for payment. The teachers further claimed that, while privately recruited survey staff had already been paid, payments to government school teachers had been withheld on the grounds that the Punjab government had not yet approved the relevant bills.

The teachers maintained that they had discharged their duties with diligence, integrity and in accordance with the prescribed targets. They argued that withholding payment for completed work was not only unjust but also constituted a breach of the commitments made to them before the survey began.

Responding to the concerns, PSER District Manager Attock Inamullah Khan said payment cheques had already been received in several districts, including Okara, and expressed hope that Attock would receive its allocation shortly.
