Sindh declares July 29 public holiday for Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai Urs

The holiday will apply to all provincial government offices operating under administrative control of the Sindh

The Sindh government declared a public holiday across the province on the occasion of the annual urs of renowned Sufi poet Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai on Wednesday, July 29.

According to a notification issued on Monday by the Sindh Information Department, the holiday would apply to all provincial government offices, autonomous and semi-autonomous bodies, corporations and local councils operating under the administrative control of the Sindh government.

"The Government of Sindh declares 14th Safar 1448 A.H. / 29th July, 2026 (Wednesday) as a public holiday throughout the Province of Sindh on the occasion of the Urs of Hazrat Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai (R.A.) for all government offices, autonomous bodies, semi-autonomous bodies, corporations, local councils under the administrative control of the Government of Sindh," it said on X.

The notification said the holiday would not apply to essential services, which would continue to operate as usual.

The annual urs of Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai is observed each year at the Sufi saint's shrine in Bhit Shah, drawing thousands of devotees from across Pakistan who gather to pay tribute to his life, poetry and spiritual legacy.
