PTI gears up for August 5 rally

Workers mobilised for Peshawar gathering

PESHAWAR:

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has launched preparations for its August 5 public rally, step-ping up efforts to mobilise party workers across Peshawar and other parts of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa.

Party workers' meetings are being held in the provincial capital, while banners promoting the event have started appearing across the city. PTI leader Zubair Ahmad Qureshi said workers from other provinces would also participate in the gathering, which will be held near the Peshawar Motorway Plaza.

He described the event as one of the most significant rallies in the province's history, adding that August 5 would be observed as a day of referendum. Qureshi said Chief Minister Sohail Afridi would make an important announcement outlining the party's future course of action.

He said PTI workers were fully prepared to launch a movement for the release of the party's founding chairman, insisting there would be no compromise on the demand. He added that the party had intensi-fied its contact campaign and had also begun reaching out to the business community.

Qureshi further announced that August 5 would be observed as a Black Day, accompanied by a strike, while emphasising that the party's protest would remain peaceful.
