The District and Regional Election Commissioners of Rawalpindi will serve as delimitation authorities for hearing objections and finalising the new local government constituencies in Islamabad.
The number of union councils in Islamabad has been increased from 125 to 130, while the number of general wards has also risen from 1,125 to 1,170.
The final list of union councils and wards will be issued on October 13, after which the process for holding local government elections in the federal capital will move forward.
The Rawalpindi Regional Election Commissioner has started work on the process. The new delimitation process will be completed and published by July 31.
Objections will be received and decided between Aug 27 and Sept 16.
