Slain trader's family seeks fresh probe

Urges formation of high-powered commission and inclusion of ex-CCD SHO in probe

The widow and relatives of businessman Sardar Irshad, who was killed in a targeted attack on Adiala Road in the Saddar Beruni police precinct, have sought the inclusion of a former CCD Rawalpindi SHO in the investigation and requested the formation of a high-powered commission to conduct a comprehensive inquiry.

According to sources, the family approached CPO Rawalpindi Hassan Mushtaq Sukhera after the targeted killing of Sardar Irshad and the subsequent deaths of four suspects allegedly involved in the murder during a police encounter.

They demanded an investigation into allegations involving a CCD police officer.

In an application submitted to the CPO, the widow and other relatives made what they described as startling revelations and requested that the former CCD SHO be nominated in the case and investigated.

They stated that various jirgas held after the incident brought to light disclosures regarding the hired killers and their facilitators.

The family appealed to the CPO and senior authorities to establish an independent investigation commission and provide protection to the victim's relatives.

They alleged that the matter may also extend to the former CCD SHO and requested an inquiry to establish the facts.

The application further sought forensic examination of all evidence, including the alleged role of the former CCD SHO, and called for all aspects of the alleged conspiracy behind Sardar Irshad's murder to be brought to light.

The family attached the former CCD SHO's call records, internet protocol details, photographs of alleged facilitators and sworn statements of individuals who attended the jirgas.

It has been learnt that CPO Hassan Mushtaq Sukhera has initiated a broad inquiry into the allegations. When contacted, the CPO said he would review the matter before commenting. Later, a police spokesperson said the case was being examined in detail.
