Teenage girl 'gang-raped' at home
An 18-year-old girl was allegedly subjected to a horrific sexual assault inside the supposed safety of her own home in Gulshan-e-Maymar, as police on Friday registered a case and launched a manhunt for the suspected rapists.
The case was lodged on the complaint of the victim's father, Javed Iqbal, under Sections 376 (rape) and 34 (common intention) of the Pakistan Penal Code. In his statement to police, the complainant said that he works at a carpet shop in Bahadur Goth while his wife is employed as a domestic helper. He stated that on July 23, both he and his wife had left for work at around 9am, leaving their daughter alone at home. According to him, two unidentified suspects forcibly entered the house shortly after their departure.
"At around 9.15am, two boys forcibly entered our house. Both were wearing shalwar kameez. My daughter can identify them if they are brought before her," the complainant told police. He further alleged that the suspects overpowered the girl, took her into a room and sexually assaulted her before fleeing the scene.
