Cop held after student shot in Raiwind

LAHORE:

A police constable has been arrested and booked on charges of attempted murder after allegedly shooting a university student in Raiwind area.

The incident occurred late on the night of July 22 near Lakhowal on Raiwind Road.

The injured student, Hasnain Razaq, stated in the First Information Report (FIR) that he was returning to his home in Lake City on his motorcycle after having dinner in Bahria Town when he noticed two men on another motorcycle following him.

The FIR, registered at Raiwind City Police Station under Section 324 of the Pakistan Penal Code (attempted murder), states that as Hasnain reached the Lakhowal area, a shot was fired from behind, striking him in the lower left side of his back.

Despite the injury, Hasnain managed to ride a short distance before spotting a Police Response Unit (PRU) vehicle.

He stopped near the vehicle, collapsed and sought assistance from officers present there.
