Robert Pattinson’s 'Primetime' set to hit theatres after Venice premiere

Robert Pattinson’s upcoming drama Primetime is officially heading to theatres this autumn following its selection for the 2026 Venice Film Festival.

The A24-backed film is scheduled for a nationwide theatrical release on September 25, adding another high-profile title to the busy fall movie calendar.

According to Deadline, Primetime stars Pattinson as journalist Chris Hansen during the early years of NBC’s To Catch a Predator. Set in 2006, the film explores the events surrounding the groundbreaking television series that brought national attention to online child predator investigations conducted with law enforcement and undercover decoys.

The film is directed by acclaimed documentary filmmaker Lance Oppenheim and written by Ajon Singh. Pattinson also serves as a producer alongside Brighton McCloskey through their production company, Icki Eneo Arlo. Additional producers include Brian Kavanaugh-Jones, Fred Berger, Lars Knudsen and Tyler Campellone.

Joining Pattinson in the cast are Merritt Wever, Skyler Gisondo and singer-songwriter Phoebe Bridgers. The project marks another major collaboration between Pattinson and A24 as the actor continues to expand his work in prestige independent cinema.

Primetime will debut in cinemas on September 25, where it will face strong competition at the box office from several major releases, including Paramount’s Heart of the Beast, Disney and Marvel Studios’ Avengers: Endgame Encore, DreamWorks Animation’s Forgotten Island, Bleecker Street’s Victorian Psycho and Roadside Attractions’ Crawlers.

The Venice Film Festival premiere is expected to generate awards-season momentum for Primetime, with industry observers already viewing the film as one of the festival’s most anticipated titles ahead of its theatrical release.
