Pakistani celebrities also voice support for Indian students amid reform protests

Pakistani celebrities, including Maya Khan, Azfar Rehman, Bilal Qureshi and rapper Talha Anjum, have voiced support for student protesters in India as demonstrations over alleged examination paper leaks continue to gain momentum across the country.

The CJP student movement began over allegations of examination paper leaks and has since evolved into a nationwide campaign demanding greater transparency, accountability and reforms to India's education system.

While the protests initially remained peaceful, clashes have since been reported in some areas, drawing widespread attention and support from public figures across India and Pakistan.

Actor Azfar Rehman shared a video showing alleged police brutality against student protesters, condemning what he described as their treatment at the hands of authorities.

"Shame on the Indian police and government for such insensitive and inhumane behaviour towards students. It's really sad how these kids are being insulted and beaten up," he wrote.

Television host Maya Khan praised the movement, describing today's youth as "well-informed" and saying she supported the students regardless of nationality.

Actor Bilal Qureshi also expressed solidarity, writing: "I can feel the pain of this generation, here and there."

Rapper Talha Anjum shared an Instagram Story, saying: "To the student protesters in India, I have so much respect for your resilience. I understand your frustration. I understand what they're trying to do to you. Stay strong."

The movement has also received growing support from Bollywood, with Salman Khan and Alia Bhatt among the latest stars to publicly back the students.

Salman shared a childhood photograph of himself in a school uniform on Instagram, calling the demonstrations a peaceful movement for educational reform.

"It was such a peaceful movement. I feel so sad that it had to take a violent turn. My heart goes out to the students and their families who were hurt," he wrote.

"This issue is between the students and the educational system. It should not be hijacked politically. The credit should only go to the students of our country."

Alia Bhatt also praised the students' determination, describing them as the generation that will shape India's future.

"The last few days have broken my heart and then mended it, again and again, with hope," she wrote. "Behind every student standing their ground is a dream, a family's hope, and a journey of countless sacrifices."
