Punjab renames WCLA
.

The Punjab government has officially renamed the Walled City of Lahore Authority (WCLA) as the Punjab Walled Cities and Heritage Areas Authority (PWCHAA), broadening the scope of the heritage body to reflect its expanded provincial mandate. According to an official notification issued on Wednesday, the new name has taken effect under the amended law.
All future government notifications, official correspondence, records and documents will use "Punjab Walled Cities and Heritage Areas Authority" in place of the former "Walled City of Lahore Authority."
Officials said the renaming reflects the authority's wider responsibility for the conservation, restoration and management of historical sites and heritage areas across Punjab, rather than being limited to Lahore's Walled City.
The authority will continue to oversee heritage conservation, urban regeneration, tourism promotion, public engagement and sustainable development, while launching new initiatives to protect and promote the province's historical and cultural assets.
