Sindh on high alert for Chehlum as security tightened

Home Minister Ziaul Hassan Lanjar on Wednesday reviewed security, traffic management and civic arrangements for the Chehlum of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA).
The meeting was attended by senior officials, including the home secretary, advocate general, IG, Karachi commissioner, AIG Karachi, CTD officials, Special Branch DIG, representatives of Pakistan Rangers Sindh, KMC, Water Board and Rescue 1122.
Officials from police, Rangers, district administration and other departments gave detailed briefings on security plans, traffic control, emergency response, sanitation and water supply arrangements for processions and religious gatherings.
Home Minister Lanjar directed authorities to ensure effective implementation of a comprehensive security plan, stressing that all institutions must work in close coordination. He ordered further tightening of security at procession routes, imambargahs, entry and exit points, and other sensitive locations.
He also called for a reassessment of arrangements for main processions and gatherings, directing officials to enhance intelligence-based surveillance, search and sweep operations, and snap checking.
He instructed relevant departments to ensure provision of essential services, including water, cleanliness, lighting and emergency rescue services along procession routes.
