Digital reforms reshape Pindi BISE

The Rawalpindi Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) has "dismantled" the cheating mafia, introduced a one-window system to resolve public complaints, and upgraded the paper-marking process to ensure greater transparency and merit.

Rawalpindi BISE Chairman Professor Dr Iqbal Mahmood claimed this while talking to The Express Tribune.

He vowed to transform the board into one of Punjab's leading examination authorities through digital governance, automation, computerisation and a modern command and control system, while reaffirming a zero-tolerance policy against examination malpractice.

"The chairmanship is not merely an administrative office but a national trust," Dr Mahmood said. "The board's greatest asset is not its buildings but the confidence of the public. If students, parents and teachers are convinced that the examination system is transparent, impartial and merit-based, that will be our greatest achievement."

He said a successful examination board should rely on data, technology and transparent systems rather than conventional bureaucratic procedures. The board's objective, he added, was to replace traditional administrative practices with a fully digital, smart and automated institution capable of delivering faster, more reliable and transparent public services.

Dr Mahmood further said transparency would become the board's defining principle rather than merely a policy. He announced plans to further modernise the command and control centre to facilitate real-time monitoring of examination centres.
