'I am fine': Amitabh Bachchan clarifies blog referred to Argentina's World Cup loss
Veteran actor dismisses health rumours, saying his blog reflected on Argentina's final defeat, not his own condition

Bollywood veteran Amitabh Bachchan has dismissed speculation about his health after a cryptic blog post led fans to believe he had been hospitalised and undergone surgery.
Speaking to Variety India, the actor clarified that his remarks about "defeat" were not about his own condition but referred to Argentina's loss in the FIFA World Cup final and Lionel Messi's experience as a champion facing defeat. "I was referring to Argentina's loss and Messi as a champion who lost. People have assumed it's a reference to me," he said.
The confusion stemmed from a post on the actor's Tumblr blog in which he mentioned hospitalisation, surgery and spending time in the intensive care unit (ICU). He described the recovery period as physically, psychologically and practically challenging, while also using the word "defeat" to reflect on resilience.
The post prompted widespread concern among fans, particularly as Bachchan had appeared in good spirits while greeting well-wishers just a day earlier. Addressing the speculation, the actor said he had not undergone surgery and was in good health.
"I am fine. I did not undergo surgery. It is a misunderstood post," he said. "I was giving an example that the period after a surgery or ICU, the most difficult time is when you come home and have to deal with your damaged condition. So when a champion loses, the most difficult time is dealing with yourself in its aftermath."
Bachchan added that his blog serves as a space to share his reflections on life, sports and current affairs, and was not intended to suggest that he was experiencing a personal health crisis.
