Woman's death sparks chaos at hospital

A woman died during treatment at a private hospital in Gulistan-e-Jauhar on Tuesday, triggering protests by her family who accused doctors of negligence and vandalised parts of the health facility.
The deceased, identified as 57-year-old Jameela, a resident of Scheme 33, had been admitted for a procedure to remove kidney stones, according to her family.
Hospital operations were suspended following the unrest, with administration evacuating patients and attendants before shutting the main gate. Police arrived at the scene in heavy numbers and restored order.
The victim's son, Ammar Saleem, alleged that his mother had walked into the hospital for what was described as a routine operation on Monday afternoon. He said the procedure was carried out later that night, but her condition deteriorated soon after.
He claimed doctors failed to provide clear information and later informed the family of complications during surgery, including fluid accumulation in the chest. The patient was subsequently shifted to the intensive care unit and later placed on a ventilator.
