Court presses for answers in Gul Plaza fire probe
A sessions court on Tuesday directed the investigating officer (IO) to submit a comprehensive report at the next hearing in the Gul Plaza blaze case, expressing dissatisfaction over the pace of the investigation.
The directive came during proceedings before the additional district and sessions judge South, who was hearing interim bail applications of union president Tanveer Pasta and other accused.
IO DSP Aamir Waraich submitted a progress report but sought more time to file the final charge sheet, stating that he would request an extension from the magistrate.
The court questioned the delay and remarked that merely submitting progress updates was insufficient, directing the officer to appear with a complete report at the next hearing.
The judge also cautioned the IO against making careless statements to the media, warning that such remarks could negatively impact public perception of the investigation. The court adjourned the hearing until August 4 and directed the IO to present a detailed report on progress in the case.
