RAWALPINDI:

Revelations and aftershocks from the Rawalpindi Ring Road service area NOC scandal continue, as the secretary of the District Planning and Design Committee (DPDC) has now been removed from his post.

According to sources, although the Ring Road design did not include a service area, approvals were allegedly granted, a backdated NOC for the right of way was issued, and land-use changes were approved through what is alleged to have been a fictitious DPDC meeting.

Municipal Corporation Rawalpindi Planning Officer Sohail Aslam, who served as secretary of the committee, was removed from the post on Tuesday.

Earlier, five officials, including former Rawalpindi commissioner Engineer Abdul Aamir Khattak, Deputy Commissioner Waqar Hassan Cheema and former RDA Director General Kunza Murtaza, were removed from their posts by the Punjab chief secretary on July 3.
