Schools to have tech-based attendance

The Rawalpindi District Education Authority has issued final orders for the installation of modern CCTV cameras and biometric attendance systems in all education offices and government educational institutions across the district on an urgent basis.
He said biometric attendance, monitoring and security had become indispensable. All education officers and heads of institutions have been directed to submit compliance reports within three days, with a warning of strict action in case of non-compliance.
The Punjab School Education Pensioners Association welcomed the installation of CCTV cameras.
During a meeting chaired by Rawalpindi Commissioner Salman Ghani, installation of CCTV cameras and biometric attendance systems in education offices and government schools was declared a top priority, with instructions for immediate implementation.
Following the decision, the CEO directed district education officers for secondary and elementary education, both male and female wings, to ensure the installations are completed. Heads of all boys' and girls' schools have also been instructed to ensure compliance within 24 hours and submit reports.
