Aunt held for toddler's murder

KARACHI:

After weeks of intensive investigation, police in Karachi have solved the brutal murder of three-year-old Kulsoom, whose body was found stuffed in a sack near her home last month. Investigators say the child's paternal aunt has confessed to the killing, while her brother was arrested for allegedly helping dispose of the body.

According to SSP Kunharo, aunt Sakina has been arrested along with her brother, Nadir, in connection with the case. Kulsoom's body was discovered near the main gate of her home, triggering a large-scale investigation. Police questioned more than 50 suspects and collected DNA samples from several individuals, but none of the samples matched the evidence recovered during the investigation.

Nadir told investigators that his sister, Sakina, carried out the murder, while he only assisted in moving the body outside the house.

Investigators believe the murder was motivated by a family dispute, although SSP Kunharo said the exact circumstances are still being investigated and Sakina remains under interrogation.
