DERA GHAZI KHAN:

A woman was allegedly attacked with acid by her husband over a domestic dispute in Dera Ghazi Khan. Two suspects have been arrested and an investigation is under way.

According to police and the victim's statement, the incident occurred in Jamal Sarwar Colony. The victim, Farah Bibi, alleged that her husband, Mehboob Ahmed had previously taken back two tola of gold jewellery given to her at the time of their marriage and had recently been demanding the return of a two-marla plot of land that was also part of her dower.

The woman stated that on the night of the incident, an argument broke out between the couple.

She claimed that during the quarrel, her husband, along with his sister and nephew Kamran, assaulted her before throwing acid on her, causing burn injuries on her back.

Neighbors responded after hearing her cries for help but were unable to enter immediately because the house was locked. The police responded after being informed about the incident through the emergency helpline.

Rescue 1122 personnel also reached the scene, provided first aid and shifted the victim to the Trauma Centre at Allama Iqbal Teaching Hospital. Hospital officials said the woman had suffered burn injuries and her condition was stable.

Dera Ghazi Khan District Police Officer (DPO) Sadiq Baloch ordered the arrest of the suspects. Saddar police arrested two suspects and registered a case, while investigations into the case were under way.

Meanwhile, a ward servant, Asif Nadeem, was arrested at trauma centre for allegedly assaulting Nursing Officer Bilqees Bibi during duty.

Police said the suspect misbehaved, used abusive language, pushed the officer and slapped her after she asked him to clean a patient's bed. The incident was also captured on CCTV and shared on social media. Civil Lines police registered an FIR under Section 353 of the PPC and arrested the suspect.
