Khanewal police roll out victim support system
The city police has established a Victim Support System (VSS) to provide legal guidance, protection and timely assistance to crime victims.
District Police Officer (DPO) Muhammad Abid paid a visit to the newly established facility, accompanied by SP Investigation Shahid Rashid, senior lawyer Shahbaz Cheema Advocate, Victim Support System In-charge Sub-Inspector Kiran and other officials.
During the visit, the DPO reviewed the functioning of the support centre, the services being provided to victims and the maintenance of official records. He also issued directions to further improve the quality of assistance and public service.
Briefing media representatives, DPO Muhammad Abid said the Victim Support System had been introduced under the public-friendly policing initiative envisioned by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz and the Punjab Police chief.
He said the primary objective of the system is to safeguard the dignity and legal rights of victims while strengthening public trust in the police through compassionate, respectful and prompt assistance.
He said the system provides comprehensive guidance to victims.
