Sindh on high alert against fuel hoarding

The government has vowed zero tolerance for fuel hoarding and artificial shortages, directing officials to ensure round-the-clock monitoring and full support for OGRA inspection teams to maintain an uninterrupted supply of petroleum products across the province.

Sindh Chief Secretary Asif Hyder Shah on Friday chaired a high-level meeting to review the availability, stocks, and supply chain of petroleum products across Sindh, in light of the current war situation in the Middle East. The meeting focused on ensuring continuous fuel supply in the province and on possible emergency arrangements.Officials briefed the meeting that 34 oil depots of oil marketing companies are established in four districts of Sindh: Keamari, Malir, Shaheed Benazirabad, and Shikarpur.

It was further informed that there are 2,136 petrol pumps and retail outlets across the province, which will be inspected in phases.The meeting was told that OGRA has formed special inspection teams.

The teams will conduct regular inspections of oil depots and petrol pumps, monitor petroleum product stocks, review compliance with prescribed regulations, and ensure the prevention of illegal hoarding or unauthorized storage.
