10 injured in cylinder explosion

At least 10 people suffered severe burn injuries when a gas cylinder exploded at a sweets and fast food shop near Chungi No. 5 in Burewala, triggering panic in the area.

According to officials, Rescue 1122 teams rushed to the spot, provided first aid to the victims and shifted them to the Burewala Tehsil Headquarters (THQ) Hospital.

The force of the blast shattered the glass windows of nearby shops, drawing a large crowd to the location.

Police cordoned off the site, collected evidence and launched an investigation.

Preliminary findings suggest the explosion was caused by a gas cylinder, though the police said the cause would be confirmed after a detailed inquiry. Doctors at the THQ hospital faced difficulties due to the absence of a burn unit in the facility. A resident said a number of lives had been lost in the past because of the absence of the unit.
