RAWALPINDI:

Soon after the Lahore High Court administration announced a vehicle ownership package for subordinate judiciary judges in Punjab, around 95 per cent of civil, family, additional sessions and special court judges in Rawalpindi deposited Rs250,000 each into the registrar's official account.

The judges also sent the required documents, including pay orders, to the Lahore High Court for transfer of ownership. Court staff deposited the amounts over the past two days.

Under the package, judges will obtain ownership of official Alto, Corolla and Honda City vehicles currently in their use by paying Rs250,000 or Rs350,000, depending on the vehicle.

Judicial officers from the Punjab judiciary currently serving in the Islamabad High Court, Supreme Court, Constitutional Court and federal and provincial law ministries are also eligible under the scheme and have deposited the required amounts.
