Two suspects killed, two injured in encounters

Investigations launched into incidents, say police

JARANWALA:

Two suspected criminals were killed and two others injured in alleged encounters involving the Crime Control Department (CCD) and district police.

According to the police, CCD teams raided a location in Jhumra to arrest a wanted suspect, Afzal, after receiving intelligence reports about his presence there.

The police said four men opened fire on the personnel, triggering an exchange of gunfire. Afzal, a resident of Katcha Jhumra wanted in several cases of robbery, was allegedly shot by his accomplices and died while being shifted to a hospital.

His accomplices escaped, and raids was launched to arrest them.

In another alleged encounter near Chak No. 115-GB, Jaranwala, suspect Khadim Hussain, wanted in several cases, was killed, while his three accomplices fled.

In separate incidents, suspects Imran and Naeem Akram were injured during alleged encounters with police in the Saddar and Balochni areas, respectively, and were shifted to hospitals.

The police said investigations into all the incidents were under way.

Meanwhile, Faisalabad Regional Police Officer (RPO) Sohail Akhtar Sukhaira dismissed a constable and demoted two other officials over negligence, misconduct and misuse of authority.

Constable Talha Abrar of Saddar Police Station was dismissed from service, while Inspector Ghulam Abbas of Toba Tek Singh was demoted to Sub-Inspector and ASI Tahir Chishti of Saddar to the rank of Head Constable.
