Prince Harry's recent reunion with King Charles III has not led to any progress in his fractured relationship with Prince William, with sources saying the estranged brothers remain out of contact despite the King's efforts to reconnect with his younger son.
According to People, there was no expectation that William and Harry would meet during Harry's latest visit to the UK, which culminated in a private reunion between the Duke of Sussex, King Charles, Queen Camilla, Meghan Markle and the couple's children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet. It marked the King's first meeting with his California-based grandchildren in four years.
A source told the magazine that, despite the positive step between father and son, the situation between William and Harry remains unchanged.
"There is still no contact between them," the insider said, adding that there has been no movement towards reconciliation.
The brothers' relationship has remained strained since Harry and Meghan stepped back as senior working royals in 2020. Tensions deepened following the couple's interviews, Netflix documentary and Harry's 2023 memoir Spare, in which he detailed longstanding grievances within the Royal Family.
During Harry's recent visit, William carried on with his own royal engagements and was not involved in the private family reunion. According to People, there was never any expectation that the Prince of Wales would attend or meet privately with his younger brother.
The ongoing estrangement has also extended to the next generation of the family. The outlet reports that Harry and Meghan's children have no meaningful relationship with their cousins—Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis—as the two families have spent little time together in recent years.
Royal insiders told the publication that while King Charles appears determined to rebuild his relationship with Harry, William remains reluctant to revisit the issues that divided them. Sources close to the Prince of Wales suggest he continues to focus on his public duties and the future of the monarchy rather than reopening old wounds.
Although the reunion with the King has been viewed as a hopeful step after years of distance, those familiar with the situation say it should not be interpreted as a sign that reconciliation between the brothers is imminent. The impasse, according to the report, remains one of the deepest unresolved divisions within the Royal Family.
