Shopkeeper shot dead in market

A 35-year-old shopkeeper was shot dead by an unidentified assailant in the Bole Di Jhuggi area, police said on Tuesday.

According to the police, Abdul Saeed, a father of three, owned a milk shop in the local market. He had just arrived at his shop when a motorcyclist shot him multiple times. The victim died at the spot.

On receiving information, police officials reached the spot and the body was shifted to a hospital for post-mortem examination.

The police said the attacker fled after shooting the victim. Investigators were examining CCTV footage from the area to identify and arrest the murderer.

Meanwhile, a suspected robber was killed during an alleged police encounter after reportedly being hit by gunfire from his accomplices.

According to the police, Madina Town SHO Adil Akram Cheema and his team had set up a checkpoint near Chak 208-RB where they signaled two men on a motorcycle to stop.
