Youth Festival: Delegates arrive for 3-day event

LAHORE: Most of the 40 delegates from various Asian countries and the United Kingdom have arrived in the city to attend the Asian Youth Conference and Peace Festival. Besides Bhutan and North Korea whose delegates have yet to arrive, Afghanistan, Sri Lanka, China, Nepal, Bangladesh, Philippines, Thailand, Indonesia, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia and Jordan will be represented at the festival. The Indian delegation was not given a no objection certificate (NOC) to attend the event. The three-day festival will begin at Alhamra Arts Council on Wednesday (today). It has been organised by the Chanan Development Association in collaboration with the Information, Culture and Youth Affairs Department of the Punjab Government and the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA). An opening ceremony will be held at the Alhamra Arts Council’s Hall 2 on Wednesday (today). Provincial Minister for Human Rights, Minorities Affairs and Women Development with Kamran Michael will be the chief guest at the occasion. Besides the 40 international delegates, 200 youngsters from Lahore and at least 250 from rest of the country will take part in various workshops and seminars.
