IHC questions poor mobile coverage in courts
The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has issued notices to the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), mobile network operators and other respondents on a public interest petition highlighting poor mobile phone connectivity within the premises of the superior and district courts.
Chief Justice Sardar Muhammad Sarfraz Dogar issued the notices while hearing the petition filed by Judicial Activism through Advocate Azhar Siddique.
The petition contends that mobile network signals within the High Court and district courts are either extremely weak or entirely unavailable, causing significant inconvenience to lawyers and litigants by disrupting urgent communication during court proceedings.
It further argues that poor connectivity prevents access to online legal resources and court-related information, thereby affecting the efficient conduct of judicial proceedings and contributing to unnecessary delays in the administration of justice.
