Six senators skip entire Senate session
FAFEN says 32 lawmakers maintained perfect attendance

Six senators did not attend a single sitting during the 362nd session of the Senate, according to a report by the Free and Fair Election Network (Fafen).
The Senate’s 362nd session was held from June 10 to June 18. Fafen reported that 32 senators maintained 100% attendance, participating in every sitting of the session.
Attendance was highest on the opening day, when 72 out of 95 senators were present.
The lowest attendance was recorded during the fifth and sixth sittings, with only 64 of the 95 senators in attendance on each day.
According to the report, 63 senators — representing 66% of the total membership — were absent for at least one complete sitting during the session.
Fafen also noted that one federal minister did not attend any sitting of the Senate session.
Leader of the House Ishaq Dar attended only one sitting during the session. Meanwhile, Leader of the Opposition Raja Nasir Abbas attended five sittings of the Senate session.
Senate sessions are convened to debate legislation, scrutinise government policies, consider reports of parliamentary committees and discuss matters of national importance.
Attendance by senators is regarded as an important measure of parliamentary engagement, as lawmakers are expected to participate in debates, legislative business and oversight of the executive.
Parliamentary watchdog Fafen regularly monitors the performance of parliament, including members’ attendance, legislative output and transparency, to assess the effectiveness and accountability of elected representatives.
