Former Love Island USA contestant Corbin Crouch has addressed the viral "CorbinGPT" nickname that followed him throughout Season 8, insisting his conversations in the villa were genuine despite viewers comparing his polished responses to artificial intelligence.
Speaking to Variety after his elimination, Corbin reflected on his experience in the villa, revealing he was surprised by how fans interpreted his calm and carefully worded conversations.
"I've always been someone who thinks before I speak," Corbin explained. "That's just how I communicate. I wasn't trying to sound rehearsed or robotic."
The reality star became the subject of countless memes after viewers jokingly dubbed him "CorbinGPT", suggesting his thoughtful responses sounded as though they had been generated by artificial intelligence. Rather than taking offence, Corbin admitted he found much of the online reaction humorous.
"I thought some of the memes were hilarious," he said, adding that he understands viewers only see a small fraction of what happens inside the villa.
Corbin also addressed his unexpected elimination, saying he was disappointed to leave but had no regrets about how he handled his relationships during the competition.
Much of his interview focused on his connection with Amaya. Corbin insisted his feelings for her were sincere and rejected suggestions that he had been strategic in pursuing the relationship.
"I genuinely cared about her," he said, explaining that their conversations away from the cameras helped build a stronger bond than viewers were able to see.
The former Islander also reflected on the season's explosive Movie Night episode, acknowledging that emotions ran high as previously unseen footage created tension throughout the villa.
While Movie Night tested several couples, Corbin said it ultimately reinforced his belief that honesty is the best approach, even when difficult conversations are unavoidable.
Despite leaving the villa, Corbin said he hopes to continue getting to know Amaya outside the show if the opportunity arises, though he acknowledged that both of them will first need time to adjust to life after reality television.
As for his viral nickname, Corbin appears to be embracing it.
"If people remember me as CorbinGPT, that's okay," he joked. "At least they're remembering me."
Although his time on Love Island USA has come to an end, Corbin's thoughtful personality, and the internet's AI comparisons, have ensured he remains one of the season's most talked-about contestants.
