Taylor Swift paid more than $160,000 to cover the costs associated with her wedding at Madison Square Garden, according to New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani.

The payment covered the required permits and city resources used during the high-profile event, including street closures, traffic management, and additional security measures. Mamdani confirmed that the permit fee had already been paid before the celebration took place.

“Taylor Swift has paid already the cost of the permit that was lodged, which was over $160,000 for that event and for the response to that event,” Mamdani said while discussing the city’s handling of major events.

The Madison Square Garden wedding attracted significant attention, bringing together hundreds of celebrities, athletes, friends, and family members. Due to the size of the gathering, New York City officials arranged additional logistical support, including a deployment of NYPD officers to manage security and traffic around the venue.

The event took place during an especially busy period for New York City, which was also hosting major occasions including the New York Knicks’ championship celebrations, FIFA World Cup activities, and preparations for the nation’s 250th anniversary events.

Mamdani described the summer schedule as a period filled with “historical and generational events,” highlighting the challenges of managing multiple large-scale gatherings across the city.

The payment comes as celebrity events continue to require extensive planning from local authorities, with permits and public safety arrangements often becoming part of the overall cost. Swift’s wedding at Madison Square Garden remained one of the most talked-about celebrity events of the year, drawing worldwide attention from fans and media outlets.
