LAHORE:

A 10-year-old girl was found dead in a washroom of a tuition centre in the Ichhra area on Thursday, prompting police to launch an investigation.

According to police, the victim, Naima, had gone to attend classes at the tuition centre, where she had been studying for about one-and-a-half years. She was later found unconscious inside the locked washroom.

The police said teachers, family members and local residents broke open the washroom door after noticing that the girl was missing. She was rushed to a nearby hospital on a motorcycle, where doctors pronounced her dead.

The body was shifted to a morgue after forensic officials completed initial examination at the spot. It was sent for a post-mortem to determine the cause of death.

Model Town Superintendent of Police (SP) Asad Ali visited the place along with a police contingent.

He said the circumstances surrounding the child's death would become clear after the investigation and post-mortem report.

The victim's father said he had received a phone call informing him that his daughter had fallen unconscious at the centre. He said Naima had been attending the academy for about one-and-a-half years and two other girls from the family also studied there.

He said doctors had asked whether there had been marks on the child's neck before the incident, but there were no such marks when she had left home. Suspecting foul play, he appealed to authorities to ensure justice.

The police said no possibility has been ruled out and all aspects of the case were being investigated.

Private investigator | 6 days ago | Reply As a private investigator who has worked with forensics and case study for over 30 years I would urge the police to investigate the staff and other students. if there was no evidence of strangulation attempted choking or asphyxiation found near by then there has been a case of tampering with evidence. There has to be a motive because recent update states that the marks were similar of those who have either passed by hanging or strangulation with rope cord or even neck scarf. A 10 year olds body does not need a strong force. clearly it is not a mystery death but a motive behind it and I urge the authorities to further interrogate the staff students to establish facts.
