ATC extends remand in bombing case
An Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) on Thursday extended by seven days the physical remand of two men accused of facilitating the suicide bombing at Imambargah Khadija-tul-Kubra in the federal capital.
The Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) produced the suspects, Wasifullah and Muhammad Shafiq, before ATC Judge Abul Hasnat Zulqarnain and sought a further 10-day physical remand to complete the investigation.
The investigation officer informed the court that the suspects had initially been arrested by the CTD in Mardan and had allegedly disclosed during interrogation that they had facilitated the attack on the imambargah. Following permission from the ATC in Mardan, Islamabad Police took the pair into custody.
According to the prosecution, the suspects were allegedly involved in planning the suicide attack and providing financial support to the perpetrators.
