LAHORE:

A judicial magistrate on Wednesday extended the physical remand of four suspects by five days in a case of rape and abduction of two foreign women, directing the police to produce them again on July 13.

Judicial Magistrate Azhar Mahmood issued the reserved order after hearing arguments at the Cantt Courts. The case was registered at Defence-C police station.

Police produced the four suspects with their faces covered and requested further five-day physical remand.

Prosecutor Mian Sajid told the court that DNA samples and fingerprints of the suspects had been obtained but the police needed more time to recover a vehicle, a laptop, cash and a weapon linked to the case.

Counsel for suspects Sikandar and Sajid opposed the remand. He argued that his clients were not named in the FIR, nor identified by complainants in statements given under Section 164 of CrPC. The defence counsel contended that the suspects had been implicated due to media attention and had no prior criminal record.
