KARACHI:

Police have detained two suspects, including a father, after a woman accused her husband of sexually abusing their three minor daughters in Lyari's Aath Chowk area, officials said on Tuesday.

According to police, a case has been registered on the complaint of the mother under Sections 354 and 376(2) of the Pakistan Penal Code. The complainant alleged that her husband, Waqar, subjected their daughters - aged seven, five and two - to inappropriate acts. The children were taken to the Police Surgeon's Office at Civil Hospital, where medical examinations were conducted and samples collected. Authorities said the investigation would proceed in light of the medical reports. The complainant further alleged that one of her daughters disclosed a separate incident involving a local youth in the same street where they attend tuition. The suspect, identified as Adam, has also been taken into custody.

Police said both detained men have denied the allegations during initial questioning. "Further investigation is under way, and the facts will become clear after medical and forensic reports," a Kalakot police spokesperson said. In a statement, the SSP City spokesperson said the case was being handled with utmost sensitivity given the ages of the children. He urged the public and media to act responsibly and avoid premature reporting that could affect the investigation and the well-being of the minors.

"The matter is extremely sensitive. It is important to prioritise the dignity and protection of the children over sensationalism," the spokesperson added.
