Shalimar Express derails near Khanewal

KHANEWAL:

A coach of the Shalimar Express, travelling from Lahore to Karachi, derailed near Khanewal Railway Station on Sunday, disrupting rail traffic for nearly six hours before railway authorities restored the track and resumed the train's journey.

No casualties were reported, as the train was moving slowly when the incident occurred.

The derailment took place behind the Railway Hospital near Khanewal station. Railway officials, including the divisional transport officer, rushed to the scene immediately after the accident, while a relief train was dispatched from Samasatta to carry out recovery operations.
