PTI refutes rumours about Yasmin's health

PTI Central Information Secretary Sheikh Waqas Akram on Tuesday rejected reports circulating about Dr Yasmin Rashid's health, saying she was alive and in Kot Lakhpat Jail.

Dr Yasmin, 74, a gynaecologist and cancer survivor, has been in custody since May 12, 2023, facing multiple charges tied to riots sparked by the arrest of PTI founder Imran Khan.

Her health has repeatedly faltered, with hospitalisations in May and July 2024, and again in 2025 when she suffered severe abdominal pain and breathing difficulties.

"Dr Yasmin is, Alhamdulillah, alive and is in Kot Lakhpat Jail," Akram said in a post on X.
