LAHORE:

The National Commission for Human Rights (NCHR) has urged authorities to conduct a prompt, transparent and thorough investigation into the roof collapse at a tuition centre in the Kahna area.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, the commission extended condolences to the bereaved families and wished the injured a speedy recovery.

Expressing deep sorrow over the incident, it called for those responsible to be identified and held accountable in accordance with the law, stressing the need for effective measures to prevent similar incidents in the future.

The NCHR also sought a report from the Sargodha district police officer about a reported case of a boy allegedly sexually abused and buried alive. It called for a prompt and transparent inquiry into the matter.
