PAC recovers Rs33b in two years

The Sindh Assembly's Public Accounts Committee (PAC) has recovered a staggering Rs 33billion from various federal and provincial departments and deposited the amount into the provincial exchequer during the period from July 2024 to June 2026.
According to data released by PAC Chairman Nisar Khuhro on Tuesday, the committee held 188 record meetings over the two-year period and successfully settled 787 audit paras pertaining to different government departments.
Speaking to the media, Khuhro revealed that Rs11.904 billion were recovered on account of electricity duty collected from consumers, while Rs34.12594 billion in outstanding water charges were recovered from various federal and provincial institutions that had defaulted on payments to the KWSC.
Moreover, a whopping Rs10 billion was recovered from multiple govt departments.
Khuhro made it clear that the committee would not turn a blind eye to any embezzlement in public funds.
