Shujaat vows support for Balochistan
Pakistan Muslim League (PML-Q) President Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain on Sunday reaffirmed his party's commitment to Balochistan, saying the province's people would not be subjected to injustice and stressing that lasting peace could only be achieved through national unity and continued support for the country's armed forces.
The remarks came during a meeting at his residence with a delegation of the PML-Q Balochistan chapter, where the party discussed the country's overall political situation, issues relating to Balochistan and organisational matters of the party.
The meeting also deliberated on the problems faced by residents of Chaman regarding cross-border movement and livelihoods linked to the Pakistan-Afghanistan border.
Speaking on the occasion, Shujaat said Pakistan's armed forces were playing a pivotal role in restoring peace in Balochistan and across the country.
He said: "Pakistan's brave armed forces are making unparalleled sacrifices to rid the country of the scourge of terrorism."
He added that the country would overcome forces working against peace through national unity.
"With the strength of unity, we will defeat the enemies of peace and make the country a cradle of peace," he said.
Shujaat said his party had always pursued a politics of public service and had consistently stood by the poor people of Balochistan.
"We will not tolerate any injustice or unfair treatment of the people of Balochistan. The party stands with the people of Balochistan and will play its role in resolving their problems," he said.
Meanwhile, Punjab Minister Chaudhry Shafay Hussain urged party workers to take the party's message to every household and work towards strengthening the organisation at every level.
