KHANEWAL:

A dispute that allegedly began over a controversial six during a village cricket match two months ago turned deadly on the 10th of Muharram when armed men attacked a family offering prayers at a graveyard, killing one man and seriously injuring three others, police said.

According to the FIR lodged at Sarai Sidhu Police Station by Asif Qadiana Sial, the incident occurred in the village of Aulakh Sindhu, where members of his family had gathered at a cemetery to offer Fateha at the graves of their relatives.

The complainant alleged that Mujahid Rana, Saqlain Rana, Sajjad Rana, Rana Shahid, Rana Bilal, Irfan, Shehbaz, Mushtaq and several of their relatives arrived at the graveyard on more than five motorcycles, armed with firearms, daggers and iron chains.

They allegedly began provoking the family.

Sensing trouble, the complainant's father, Haq Nawaz, reportedly went to the village and requested former union council chairman Zafar Sindhu and local numbardar Chaudhry Haris to intervene.
