The Alice in Borderland actor is under investigation over alleged incidents that took place between March and May 2024 at his residence in Tokyo's Shibuya district.
According to reports by Nikkan Sports, Murakami allegedly assaulted the woman on four occasions during that period. The allegations include claims that he punched her, pulled her hair and slammed her head against a window. The reported injuries were said to have required more than one month to heal.
The case was initially investigated by Tokyo's Harajuku Police Station before being referred to prosecutors for further investigation after the woman filed a complaint detailing the alleged abuse.
Murakami reportedly acknowledged causing injuries to the woman during the investigation. In a reported statement, he said, "There is no doubt that I injured her."
At the time of publication, neither Murakami nor his management agency had issued a further public statement regarding the allegations or the referral to prosecutors.
